George Vanderbilt’s quest for knowledge was a lifelong passion, and his legacy of learning continues today at Biltmore. With diverse internships complementing numerous fields of study, The Biltmore Company Internship Program is designed to provide students with invaluable work experience as they fulfill their undergraduate or graduate degree requirements.
Our internship programs offer flexible start dates to best fit the needs of the student’s school requirements. Internships may be available in a variety of career fields and are subject to change from year to year. Internship opportunities are posted in our online job listing for candidates to apply. Candidates must be currently enrolled or have just graduated from a related field of study to be eligible.

Applications will be considered only if the internship position is posted and the individual meets all applicant criteria. Interested students must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate school student in a degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university.

How do I apply?

When do you accept applications for hospitality internships and culinary internships?
We accept applications year-round for all of our hospitality internships, including culinary arts, pastry arts, Catering Management, F&B Management, and Hotel Operations Management.

Is housing offered to externs? What kind of accommodations can I expect, and what is the cost of housing?
For Interns and Externs relocating to Asheville, company-subsidized shared housing is an option on a first come, first served basis. Intern apartments are fully furnished, and less than 10 miles from Biltmore Estate’s entrance. Apartments are newly constructed with modern amenities, and shared between three/four employees at a time (2 or 3 BR, 2 bath). Employee rental rate varies based on position, and includes basic electric, water, & trash fees. Washer and dryer provided in furnishings.

If I am a post-grad student, is there a possibility of employment after my internship?
Yes, we do offer employment to many of our interns and externs based on availability and performance after completion of the internship. Upon accepting a position, your wages and benefits would generally increase.

Are the Hospitality internships paid internships?
Yes, we do offer compensation for all of our hospitality and culinary interns.

How many hours a week will I be working?
All externs and interns receive full-time weekly hours (32-40 hours). Many seasons of the year also have overtime hours available.

How often will I receive a paycheck?
Hourly associates are paid on a weekly basis.

Which restaurants will I be working in as an intern or extern?
Each extern will have the opportunity to participate in a rotation between two or more restaurants on a six-week eight-week schedule. This rotation is the most important part of our program because it allows you to gain experience in a variety of restaurants kitchens with guidance from our professional culinary and/or management teams. We’re able to offer customized rotations for concentrated experiences if requested and discussed during the interview and application process.
